While me and the other Jim (Jim K) are being a little rough on you in this thread, I do admit that you have thus far done many good things for your Aloifolia. You ARE providing it with all the little advantages that matter. I especially like the fact that it is sheltered from precipitation. That alone could be a huge leg up.

Now, imagine if you could get two 7b winters in a row. And the plant gets well established and grows like a weed. It will, of course, become stronger (hardier) simply on its own .

All that said, I think Jim K raises excellent points. You must also understand that the man knows Yuccas. Unless you've been to his place, you probably have no idea how much he really is the Yucca Guru.

I wish you and your Yucca (Palmettos, etc.) all the best. I really do. I hope all goes well, and that with time, you are able to make us eat our words.
