Still more warm winters than cold winters (5 to 4):

Message from Mike coastal CT

So lets finish the chart....

December 2009 …. 1.1 F below normal/No below zone lows
January 2010…. 0.2 F above normal/No below normal zone lows
February 2010...3.9 F below normal/No below normal zone lows

December 2010 …. 4.7 F below normal/No below zone lows
January 2011…. 3.7 F below normal/No below normal zone lows
February 2011….2.4 F above normal/No below normal zone lows

December 2011….5.8 F above normal/No below zone lows.
January 2012…4.7 F above normal/No below zone lows.
February 2012….5.2 F above normal/No below zone lows.

So from December 2009 to Feb 2012 (9 winter months).....5 were above normal and 4 below normal at NWS Philly. So more winters were good (or warm) than were "bad" or cold. Unless I'm missing something?

If you look at ALL the winter months (18 of them) from December 2009 to February 2015….9 below normal…and 9 were above normal…and not a single month in 6 winters had an out of zone low at NWS Philadelphia. I’m not sure what the “break” from winter is your looking for (other than a warmer climate). You don’t live in Jacksonville, lol.

Look at it another way (if you’re feeling lucky)….if December 2015 ends up above normal at NWS Philadelphia….over the last 19 winter months (or 6 winters) Philadelphia will have had MORE warm or “good” winters ….than cold or “bad “ winters. You will actually have been lucky. Again, unless I’m missing something?

This is normally not the type of "factual" or unbiased data you’ll find on a Joe Bastardi site. Another reason you should use caution when reading things he says.
