Funny thing is, the wife and I have been to all those places at one time or another. I particularly enjoy visiting the Santa Barbara mission, one of my favorite places to look at palms. The jub is a monster and a rarity. The Mojave is a fun place too, the giant Joshuas are very cool indeed! I remember visiting the Calico ghost town a couple years back, did you notice all the Washingtonias scattered around? Anyway, glad to got to visit California, just imagine driving north of the Golden Gate bridge some 3.5 hours and eventually you'd find Eureka. we are isolated for coastal California standards.
