The largest WILD colony of cacti in Connecticut is at Long Beach, Stratford. There is a long tombolo that runs paralell to the coast, where thousands thrive. The cacti at milford point were planted by the Audubon society, and subsequently naturalized along the boardwalk.
Further north/east, there are populations at Outer Island in Branford, and along the traprock ridges near Southigton in the central part of the state (northernmost locale i know of)
