Re: Right on Schedule.. The next cold front will sweep in to the SE 20-23 Bank on it.

Message from Jim Wilmington DE 7a

Our low here this morning was 33F.

Strange that we should be a degree or two warmer than many locations on the maps you presented.

As for this: "The next cold front will sweep in to the SE 20-23 Bank on it", cold fronts come through all year round in the Middle Atlantic. In summer, it may mean Monday it's 92F and Tuesday (after the front) it's 88F. At any rate, it's November. Perhaps the steepest transitional month on the entire calendar for many East Coast locations.

For Wilmington, the average hi/lo on November 1st is 61F/41F. By the 30th, it's 50F/33F. An 11 degree drop of the average high in 30 days is nothing to sneeze at.

My point? You're talking cold coming (what else is new?), and you say it's not even winter yet. Well, it's about 2 weeks from Meteorological Winter (Dec. 1). I recall -- not in the distant past -- 90F days in April. Far from summer.

Your calls for cold are like boldly claiming in the mid afternoon that in a few hours, it will get dark. IT'S NOVEMBER. IT GETS COLD IN NOVEMBER.

Since you are our resident Mr. Freeze, tell me, do you think next April, May and June that things will warm up again, or is it going to just stay winter cold permanently?

Me? I'm enjoying the fall, so far. Most of the deciduous trees have shed their leaves, so now is the best time of the year to enjoy evergreens as they stand out so dramatically in the landscape. The weather, though a little brisk, is still not so uncomfortably cold that being outdoors is bothersome.

You should look at the cup as half full instead of half frozen.
