Has anyone ever tried growing tectona grandis (teak tree)?

Tectona grandis (Teak tree) is a relative of Paulownia with large leaves and rapid growth. It is also pollarded to speed up growth. Unlike Paulownia, it supposedly has leathery leaves that are sometimes shinier, but it is also far less cold tolerant.

If it responds well to pollarding with rapid growth, it seems that it might be a candidate for winter dieback, spring resprouting. Kind of like ficus auriculata, except perhaps with more mulching overwinter.
