Re: SPRING IN DECEMBER(SANTAS BRINGING ME FLOWERS)

Message from Ken in cold z6a Ohio

Hi Karen,

I wouldn't cut anything back. I'd just let nature take its course. There may be damage, but cutting anything back would probably be the same as the natural damage.

As for me, I have Cyclamen coum that has been blooming since October. they usually don't bloom until the end of February or early March here. Helleborus niger buds are coming up. The earliest they've bloomed for me is January 10. I doubt they'll actually bloom for Christmas, but maybe. Spring bulbs are showing a good bit of growth, and friends keep asking if that is a problem. I keep telling them to leave them alone. The only thing that could really damage them would be an ice storm if the flower buds are emerging, and that won't be for a while yet.

Take care and enjoy any winter flowers you can get!

Ken
