Re: My Australian pine seems harmless enough

Message from George in Bandon Oregon

such a sweet little thing looks harmless enough (just don't give it water after midnight---just in case anybody remembers the movie "gremlins", LOL). FWIW, many dwarf cultivars of various plants are sterile or set few if any viable seeds or the general environment is hostile to any seedlings so your baby might not be an invasive thug in waiting. OTOH, in the right place and the right conditions for it, the plant that is a well-behaved, law-abiding ornamental in one spot can indeed be a big problem somewhere else. many of my eucalyptus trees (considered to be potentially invasive in California) produce all sorts of viable seed but in all the years I've been where I and those trees are have just seen a hand-full of seedlings in one odd place---the big pile of ashes in our old burn pile--go figure!!!
