I agree some of the east Asian laurels are just amazing plants. They seem to grow well in the SE, at least at the Armstrong State display garden in Savannah. Litsea japonica in particular has fantastic blue-tinted foliage.

Anyone know why these plants aren't more popular here? I can't see where anyone even sells L. japonica in the US. Is the "laurel wilt" that's devastating native Persea (and soon maybe commercial Avocados) an issue? Invasivenesss?
