As a strap-leaf plant, mine was THE hardiest (least damaged) palm I had, most years from 2007/8 winter up until it started having "character fronds." Then, it fell in line with my Minors. Still a very hardy plant! However, the last two winters dealt it a very bad 1-2 punch. It recovered from bad defoliations after both winters, but when I say "recover", I don't mean 6 or 7 fronds. I mean 2.5. (Pretty 2.5 fronds, though!)

My Palmetto this April.

Same palm, this October.

Again, this is against a wicked 7a winter. MOST YEARS, it does fairly well.

Grown from a tiny bareroot plant from Nearly Native Nursery in GA.

In-ground since May 2007.
